Practical guide
Create backgrounds that are ready to ship.
Why add grain to a gradient?
A small amount of grain adds texture and helps disguise color banding on large, soft gradients. It can make digital backgrounds feel more tactile, but high intensity quickly reduces clarity and increases visual noise.
Use grain as a finishing layer
Shape the color fields first, then raise grain slowly while viewing the design at its final size. Fine grain usually suits interface backgrounds, while heavier grain is better reserved for posters and editorial graphics.
Watch contrast and file size
Texture affects both readability and compression. Check any text over the noisiest area and compare PNG or WebP output before publishing a large background on the web.
Common questions
Know what you are exporting.
Does the editor upload my design?
No. Editing and current exports happen locally in your browser.
Can I use the result commercially?
Yes. You can use gradients you create in personal and commercial work.
Which export should I choose?
Use CSS for lightweight web backgrounds, SVG for scalable design assets, and PNG for the most predictable visual result.
